Our Mission

At the heart of Project1223 lies a dual mission: to elevate the conversation around colon cancer and to mobilize resources for those it affects. Our vision is a future where colon cancer, detected early and armed with the support of a knowledgeable community, loses its power to devastate lives.

Our Story

The creation of Project1223 is a testament to the bonds of love and the stark reality of loss. It was born from the final wish of Dishreen Riddle-Simmons, whose own confrontation with colon cancer revealed the stark need for greater awareness and community support. Dishreen's diagnosis came at age 45, an unexpected pivot in a life rich with family, love, and laughter. The symptoms—persistent cough, unexplained weight loss, and digestive issues—came in the aftermath of the global pandemic, a time when the world was just beginning to heal.

Dishreen's brother, Al-Jabbar Riddle, transformed her brave fight and poignant request into action. His commitment: to educate others about this silent predator, ensuring that the path she walked would be brighter for others. Dishreen's battle, though deeply personal, was not fought in solitude. For four years, she navigated treatments with the best medical minds and her loved ones, all while being the heart of her family—a mother to two young teenagers, a supportive wife, and a cherished sibling and daughter.

Project1223 stands as a beacon, not of a battle lost, but of the enduring will to confront colon cancer head-on. It’s an initiative that continues Dishreen's fight through awareness, education, and a community that holds space for those touched by this disease. Each step we take forward is driven by the love Dishreen inspired and the change she envisioned.

Partnerships & Collaboration

Project1223 thrives on collaboration, recognizing that unity is strength, especially in the battle against colorectal cancer. We are proud to partner with leading health organizations, research institutions, and community groups to amplify our impact. With Project 1223 beginning in 2024, we’re eager to build lasting relationships with a multitude of progressive organizations, institutions, physicians, and businesses to enhance our awareness campaigns.

Detecting and treating colon cancer early greatly increases survival rates. Unfortunately, many cases are not identified in the early stages.

Let's work together to boost screening rates and save lives.

Our Future Goals

As we look to the future, Project1223 remains steadfast in its commitment to ending the threat of colon cancer. Our plans include expanding our awareness campaigns, increasing support for cutting-edge research, and enhancing our support services to meet the evolving needs of our community. Here, we'll outline the ambitious goals that drive us forward, inviting our visitors to join us in this journey of hope and healing.
